Abstract

The article reviews results of the Crimea (Yalta) conference of 1945 and its impact on maintenance of peace and stability in Europe up to the end of the 20th century: international arrangement based on principles achieved in cource of the Yalta conference lasted for almost 50 years, just as the Big Three predicted. The generation of the conference participants came through calamities and trials and yet, with all contradictions, sacrifices, expenses, managed to ensure peace and stability in Europe not only till its own passing, but left some margin of strength for the next generation, despite the rising winds of the cold war. Course of front-line developments, conflict of national security concepts of three allied powers, habitual practice of division of the spheres of influence in a situation of a geopolitical vacuum caused centrifugal tendencies in the great Alliance.
