Documents in the Personal Provenance Fond of Honoured Scientist and Engineer S.R. Medvedev from the State Archive of the Volgograd Region
Abstract
The article examines composition and content of documents from the personal provenance fond of professor Stepan Romanovich Medvedev, honoured scientist and engineer, laureate of the USSR State Prize, celebrated hydraulic engineer and professor, devoted scientist and a man of his time, enthusiastic, courageous, a sincere architect of his country’s future. Significance of the study stem from introduction into the scientific use and popularization of important historical source, documental evidence on S.R. Medvedev life. His personal provenance fond allows define the context of his life journey on quite personal level. The author gives a brief description of the main events of S.R. Medvedev’s biography and assesses type and content of the materials in his fond, highlighting items which are of particular interest to researches. Documents of the fond are of considerable value for those interested in the history of technical science of the Soviet period, in evolution of the national hydraulic power industry. They show major developments in Volgograd and Volzhskiy through the prism of personal history.
