“Local Soviets don’t understand what is mean to support the peasantry”: documents of federal and regional archives about peasantry political attitude in the period of NEP

Annotation

The scientifically important problem of peasants’ and local authorities’ relations in the second half of 1920’s is described in the article. At that period of time NEP had already shown the results of the economies’ development which did not fully satisfy the peasantries’ state of opinion. Though the Soviet authorities had acted for 7 years already, in the country there still was a covert displeasure and opposition in different forms. This article complements the history of NEP with new archival data, broadens the knowledge of the situation which formed in the Russian countryside in the 20’s. The practical application of this material is possible in the teaching of the history of Russia, and special courses.
