The old believers is a numerous Christian movement that emerged in Russia in 17th century to the combination of many historical, cultural, political and religious factors. Relevance of the proposed work relies on the fact that despite some scientific and historical interest, presence of a substantial amount of research and monographs on the Old Believers, Old Believers is a poorly studied religious community. One of the eventful periods in the history of the Old Believers is the so-called "golden age" - the period between the giving of religious freedoms by the Imperial manifesto in 1905 (The Manifesto on the Improvement of the State Order) and the CPC Decree of separation of church and state in 1918. An important and indicative aspect of life of the Old Believers’ community in this short period is the formed education system. The Old Believers' education system was built as opposed to the existing state and Sinod’ educational systems and was the result of an alternative understanding of the role of pedagogy in a religious society. In addition, the Old Believers' education system was created without any meaningful state support, but with the participation of the internal financial and human resources of the Old Believers. This also underlines the interest and relevance of the proposed topic of the research work. The purpose of this study is a comprehensive reconstruction and analysis of the Old Believers educational institutions, training and certification of teaching staff, identifying problems, principles of operation, historical and statistical results and the emerging challenges of historical and organizational issues in the period of 1905-1918. To achieve this goal it is paramount to identify and systematize the block of sources associated with the Old Believers schools. In the present article the author shows and systematizes all the research sources engages both published and not. There have been used 50 cases, 12 funds and 7 archives of Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Latvia, the work was performed to identify, organize, analyze and build the complete list of all pre-revolutionary periodicals of all old believers’ consents, and analyzed for the topic compliance a large block of published old believers’ internal documents and regulations, and here are provided bibliographic references to many related official government acts and regulations.
