Annotation

Collections of the State Archive of the Russian Federation contain documents on the history of the abolition of religious education and the introduction of anti-religious upbringing in Soviet Russia in 1917–1929. Archival material reveals a large-scale activity of state administrative bodies, public organizations, aimed at the complete elimination of all forms of religious education. On the other hand, the documents of the Holy Council, the anti-Soviet governments, and numerous letters from citizens, express their attitudes in order to preserve religious education for children and adults.
