Abstract

The article reviews materials of archival Rossica from one of the largest collections of the Hoover Institution on War, Revolution and Peace Archive (Stanford University, USA, California), B.I. Nicolaevsky Collection. This collection contains personal papers of such outstanding historical figures as M.A. Bakunin, P.L. Lavrov, G.V. Plekhanov, P.B. Akselrod, Yu.O. Martov, I.G. Tsereteli, V.M. Chernov and L.D. Trotsky. It contains documents on the Russian revolutionary movement of the 19th and 20th centuries: anarchists, “narodniks”, socialist-revolutionaries and the RSDRP. Documents of the collection also capture activities of the imperial government, events of the Revolution of 1905, activities of the State Duma, Russian Revolutions of February 1917 and October 1917, Russian Civil War, “Vlasov Movement” during the Second World War and circumstances of displaced persons after the Second World War. The smaller part of this collection contains documents of foreign organizations and persons, mainly documents on history of the socialist movement in Europe and the USA. The materials comprising the collection include letters, articles, memoirs, minutes of meetings, pamphlets, leaflets, photographs, etc. The article concludes that materials of B.I. Nicolaevsky Collection are valuable sources on the history of our country of the first half of the 20th century and their further study and introduction into scientific use is an important task for Russian archivists and historians.
