Some aspects of Catherine's II perception of Pugachev’s rebellion of 1773–1775

Annotation

The article is devoted to the perception Pugachev’s revolt 1773-1775 in the Russian Empire of the Empress Catherine II. In this article the author analyzes official and personal correspondence of the Empress Catherine II written in 1773-1775. The author considers main periods of the Empress’s attitude to the rebellion, analyzes her understanding of the fundamental aspects of the riot: it’s substance, social base, reasons.
