Soviet War Prevention Actions on the North-Western Borders of the USSR and European Involvement Prior to the Great Patriotic War
Abstract
Study of the interwar period of 1920-1930s proves it to be a bridge between the First and the Second World Wars. The conflict-prone contradictions were inherent to the papers of the Paris Peace Conference, following the end of World War I, which resulted in escalation of aggression from Germany, Italy, Japan and their satellites, which brought the mankind to the Second World War and necessitated Soviet action to ensure security of the North-Western regions of the USSR. Thus the possibility of appearance of puppet regimes sponsored by Germany in Baltic States and former Poland was eliminated. The measures taken by the leadership of the USSR were to provide conditions for Soviet military presence in the Baltic states.
Keywords
