Researching prospects of World War I problems (1914–1918) on archival collections

Annotation

Formation of archival holdings that reflected the life of the country during World War I, was interrupted by the outbreak of revolution and Civil War. Later in the memory of eyewitnesses period of 1914—1917. was overshadowed by even more ambitious and tragic events. This caused difficulties in the study of period. Meanwhile, in the time of war arose massive desire to perpetuate the memory of her, it was part of the perception of the military conflict as the time when things will change for the better — and the people, and society, and the principles of government. The notion about the public mood was formed efforts of politicians of various stripes, but the true motives of human behavior in European war can be identified on the basis of personal documents. Russian archives contain little memoirs and letters relating to 1914—1917. They usually dissolved in a host of other documents, making them difficult to identify. But they show that the Russian army began to lose strictly hierarchical nature of submission and control. Subordinates confidence that they have the right to ask and demand. It is important to examine the contents of patriotism reflected in private correspondence. Attempting to reconstruct this spiritual phenomenon on the basis of newspaper articles give a distorted result, as published in the media and propaganda carried out catalytic functions. Studies carried out in recent years have shown that different regions of the country 's economy was built on different organizational grounds. The North of Russia as the sea gate of a country at war showed the formation of model of state capitalism. In contrast, in the South of the country continued to dominate the market mechanisms.
