Abstract
The article analyses the composition of documents of Russian joint-stock companies of the 19th–beginning of the 20th century according to Russian legislative regulation. The attention is focused on the documentation of the activities of a joint-stock company’s corporate bodies. The article describes the recordkeeping procedure of joint-stock companies. There are several examples of the drawing up of different organizational and administrative documents based on documentation of several Moscow joint-stock companies. The article is of considerable interest as it strives to study the history of records keeping. This line of research is of great significance for all document sciences. The topic of the study covers documents of the joint-stock companies, the research of the composition of documents and paperwork regulations is based on studying the legislature. This traditional approach is still effective. The author characterize the major types of documents used in joint-stock companies, their composition and drawing up procedures, and thus reconstructs the historical documentation system that affects the one currently used in the joint-stock companies.
