Sources in the study of public education in Upper Volga region in 19th century

Annotation

The article provides the analysis of the source base for public education development in Upper Volga region guberniyas in the 19 century. Using an inter-archival approach the author revealed and analyzed the structure and content of archival funds and documents stored in the state archives of Vladimirskaya, Ivanovskaya, Kostromskaya, Tverskaya and Yaroslavskaya oblast and also pointed to some types of documents characterizing the public education organization in the Upper Volga region stored in the federal state archive funds RGIA and RGADA. The article states the archive documents characteristics by fund and type structure, substantiates the possibility and necessity of a complex approach in the study of public education archive sources in the Upper Volga region in 19 century. The inter-archival subject survey of archive funds and documents presented in the article introduces into scientific circulation the source base which makes possible a comprehensive study of public education organization in the Upper Volga guberniyas. The survey provides insight into the structure of public education bodies in the Russian Empire in 19 century and their documents type structure and may be used in a public education research of a similar period in other regions of Russia. The author regards the inter-archival subject survey of public education problem in the Upper Volga region in 19 century in the context of implementation of the “material civilization informational mould” creation idea as an effective means of increasing the informative value of thematic archive complexes and of their preserving. The article is specially actual in context of tasks to implement educational reforms in Russia taking into account previous experience.
